“SINCE 1839"for the Virginia Military Institute 2016
Final Print Image for the first (of two) VMI Historical Lineage Prints. This first historical print begins with VMI’s founding 1839 at the our Nation’s first State Military School through circa 1925 with an illustration of Lt. George C. Marshall in 1908 (VMI ’01).
Other items depicted are the Cadet barracks (1896-1915), Mounted Cadets on Horseback, a VMI Football Game (1923), General “Stonewall” Jackson, as well as the famous Battle of New Market on May 15th, 1864. This is the first-ever & only historical lineage print composed for and in conjunction with the VMI Museum.

“RESOLVE” for the Virginia Military Institute 2016
Final Print Image for the 2nd Historical Lineage Print for VMI released in
February of 2017. The intent of this 2nd print is to cover the time period from
World War II through present-day.
Items illustrated are the Cadet Barracks as it exists today with the recent
additional of a third barracks along with the VMI Band Company marching in
Scottish garb playing bagpipes. Historically, there exists an image of General
George C. Marshall ’01 who authored the Marshall Plan for post-war Europe.
Also depicted is the iconic statue of General “Stonewall” Jackson overlooking
cannons known as Mathew, Mark, Luke, & John positioned at the edge of the
VMI Parade Deck. The print depicts a Rat Sentry, Cadets negotiating an obstacle
course, as well as Rats tackling the muddy & grueling “Break-Out Hill”. Finally,
in the background, one notices Jackson Arch with the famous inscription “You
May Be Whatever You Resolve To Be.”
